Bayer 04 has reached the final of the national cup competition in Berlin's Olympic Stadium five times. In 1993, the Werkself won the title with a 1:0 victory against the amateurs of Hertha BSC. In the 2023/24 season, the Werkself lifted the DFB Cup for a second time in the club's history with a 1-0 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

The next opponents in the 2024/25 DFB Pokal have been confirmed: The Werkself are away to Bayern Munich in the Round of 16. That was the outcome of the draw held on Sunday night, 3 November, at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. DFB sporting director Rudi Völler led the draw with European championship saxophonist André Schnura picking out the teams.

Bayer 04 comfortably mastered the second round of the DFB Pokal to deservedly progress to the Round of 16. In the home tie against second division SV 07 Elversberg, Patrik Schick paved the way to victory in the first ten minutes with a lightning brace and Aleix Garcia scored an impressive first goal for the club. A focused performance, a well-deserved win: Bayer 04 are through to the Round of 16 in the DFB Pokal after a 3-0 victory against SV 07 Elversberg that was never in doubt.
