Since its first participation in 1997, the Werkself has been regularly represented in Europe's top club competition. In the Champions League, which has been reformed for the 2024/25 season, Bayer 04 will be playing in the "premier class" for the fourteenth time in total. Its greatest success was reaching the 2002 final against Real Madrid in Glasgow.
