Bayer 04 have been in Germany's top flight continuously since promotion to the Bundesliga in 1978/79. The Werkself have finished runners-up five times at the end of the season. With one exception in the 2016/ 17 season (twelfth place), the Black and Reds have always finished in a European spot at the end of a Bundesliga campaign since the 2010s. In the 2023/24 season, Bayer 04 won the German championship and remained unbeaten in 51 consecutive matches.
The team under coach Xabi Alonso unwaveringly continued their run in the New Year. They were top at the winter break, beat Bayern Munich and continued to break away from the record champions. Never giving up, scoring an incredible number of crucial goals in added time and going from one win to the next. The second half of this magical 2023/24 season includes a breathtaking number of highlights.
