In 2018/19, Bayer 04 are in Europe for the 25th time in the club's history since the first qualification in 1986/87. The Werkself are in the UEFA Europa League; this is the twelfth season in this competition (including the preceding UEFA Cup that was replaced by the Europa League in 2009/10) – plus three times later on in the season after finishing third in the group stage of the Champions League. The biggest success for Bayer 04 was in 1988 with the victory in the UEFA Cup final against Espanol. To date the longest run in the Europa League was reaching the Round of 16 (2015/16 and 2010/11).
The second double-fixture week is here – the next Bayer 04 match is in three days: In the first leg of the Round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League, the Werkself are away to FK Krasnodar on Thursday (18.55 CET, live text commentary and web radio in German at bayer04.de) and that is followed by the home game in the Bundesliga against Rhine rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday (17 February, 18.00 CET).
