With the outside temperature at 30 degrees on Tuesday morning the first strenuous session of the day was in Sosnowiec on the pitch some 12 kilometres away from the team’s accommodation. The coaches led by head coach Roberto Pätzold focused on counter pressing and challenges. In games on small pitches, the 45-year-old coach also looked at dealing with situations of being outnumbered.
Sporting director Achim Feifel joined the players in the early afternoon to gain an impression of the facilities. After a communal lunch and snack, the Leverkusen group embarked on the second session of the day in the afternoon. In somewhat cooler temperatures, Pätzold worked on ideas for build-up play. Back at the hotel, Kristin Kögel and Co. had a team evening together giving them time for board games, table tennis, PlayStation matches and more.
A total of six more sessions on the pitch are planned up to Monday. On Wednesday the Bayer 04 Women play Czarni Sosnowiec after training in the morning with an evening kick-off at 19.24 CET. The reason for the match at the Arcelormittal Park Sosnowiec is the 100th anniversary of the top-flight Polish club. The match will be broadcast live free of charge on the Czarni YouTube channel.
