The football coach (UEFA Pro Level) and qualified sports instructor from Schwäbisch Gmünd in Baden-Württemberg began his coaching career in 1990 as a youth team coach. Achim Feifel earned his DFB coaching badge ten years later. His first contact with women’s football came in 2003 as assistant coach to the Germany U23 team. Feifel then took charge of the Women’s team at Hamburg SV in 2005 before moving on to Russian top-flight and Champions League side FC Rossiyanka in 2012. He took the team to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Cup.
After a year in Russia and a season as assistant coach at FFC Turbine Potsdam, Feifel returned to HSV, initially as a coach in the academy and finally as technical head and individual and assistant coach in the youth section (U16 to U21 teams).
