The Nordkurve12 fan group has this year created the ‘Finally Red’ campaign for the end of this season. Werkself fans should come to the stadium to support the team wearing red for the final 04 games against Augsburg, in Freiburg, against Borussia Dortmund and in Mainz.
T-shirts and stickers can be purchased from 12.30pm today outside the stadium to help you with that red look.
As part of works to upgrade the Rheinbrücke, there was a full closure between the Leverkusen-West and Leverkusen motorway junctions from 10pm yesterday evening until 10am today. Restrictions should be lifted by that time. Nevertheless, all stadium visitors are advised to check before they travel to the BayArena and to give themselves plenty of time.
Bayer 04 have lost only two of their 27 Bundesliga meetings with Augsburg, who average only 0.48 points per game against the Werkself, which is their lowest total against any team they have faced more than once in the top flight. Leverkusen have won the last three in a row.
However, the Bavarians come to the BayArena in excellent form, having lost just one of their last 14 games in the league. With a total of 27 points in 2025, they are the third-best team in the Bundesliga this year and now face the team with the second-best record in Leverkusen (32 points). Only Bayern Munich have earned more this calendar year (36). But today’s game features the two best defences of this year, with Augsburg conceding only eight goals in 15 league outings in 2025, followed by Bayer 04 with 14.
The match also sees a reunion between Lukas Hradecky and Augsburg boss Jess Thorup. The pair worked together at Danish club Esbjerg between 2009 and 2013, where Thorup was assistant and then head coach.
The visitors are enjoying their best Bundesliga campaign to date after 30 rounds of fixtures with 43 points on the board, with their excellent run this year giving them hope of potentially making it into Europe, given the gap from 10th to sixth is only four points. “That would be something extraordinary for a club like Augsburg,” said coach Thorup of his side’s form. Goalkeeper Finn Dahmen added of Saturday’s fixture: “We’re going to Leverkusen, where anything’s possible given our form.” There is real confidence among the Bavarians right now. Find out more about them in our in-depth opposition profile.
There will be an information stand with the Frauenennotruf Leverkusen (Leverkusen Women's Emergency Helpline) in the area around the BayArena (east). Since January 2023, Bayer 04 has been offering ‘Luisa is here!’, a support service for women and girls in the event of any form of harassment at home matches in close cooperation with the Frauenennotruf, the Bayer 04 fan support service and the Leverkusen Fan Project. If necessary, affected persons can contact the BayArena staff (service staff, security staff, etc.) directly with the help phrase ‘Luisa is here!’ or otherwise and ask for help.
The German FA (DFB) have appointed Christian Dingert to oversee this match. The 44-year-old has taken charge of 19 previous Werkself fixtures in the Bundesliga (W11, D3, L5). His assistants are Denedikt Kempkes and Nikolai Kimmeyer; the VAR is Pascal Müller.
