Werkself start 2023 with 3-2 win at Mönchengladbach
The Werkself picked up three points in the first competitive match of the year with a 3-2 victory away to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The goals for Bayer 04 on matchday 16 were scored by Mitchel Bakker (21'), Amine Adli (43') and Nadiem Amiri (67'). Borussia substitute Lars Stindl netted a late brace to make it 3-2 (82', 90+3') but the team under head coach Xabi Alonso held onto the lead to secure a fourth Bundesliga win in succession.

Werkself kick off final week of training before Gladbach game
Fresh from their 1-0 win against Copenhagen, the last of four winter friendlies, Bayer 04 returned to work on the training ground on Monday, 16 January. Xabi Alonso and his team kicked off the final week of preparation before the first Bundesliga game of 2023 against Borussia Mönchengladbach (17:30 CET on Sunday) with a practice match against the club’s U19s. It was also the first time we got to see new signing Noah Mbamba in action for the Werkself.
