Mitchel Bakker wechselte im Sommer 2021 von Paris Saint-Germain zu Bayer 04. Der Linksverteidiger wuchs vor den Toren Amsterdams auf, im Alter von zehn Jahren zog es den Niederländer in die renommierte Nachwuchsabteilung von Ajax. Dort durchlief er sämtliche Mannschaften, ehe er zur Saison 2019/20 dem Ruf von PSG folgte und sich dem französischen Topklub anschloss. In der abgelaufenen Spielzeit kam Bakker auf 26 Liga-Einsätze für Paris und in der Champions League stand er in zehn der zwölf Partien von PSG auf dem Rasen.
