Andrey Lunev wechselte im Juli 2021 von Zenit St. Petersburg zu Bayer 04. Der Torhüter unterschrieb beim Werksklub einen bis zum 30. Juni 2023 gültigen Vertrag. Der Kontrakt des Nationalkeepers, der bei der Europameisterschaft im erweiterten Kader der „Sbornaja“ gestanden hat, war beim aktuellen russischen Meister aus St. Petersburg ausgelaufen. „Mit Andrey Lunev haben wir einen gestandenen Schlussmann für uns gewonnen. Mit seiner nachgewiesenen sportlichen Qualität und fußballerischen Reife wird er unserem Kader guttun“, betonte Sportdirektor Simon Rolfes im Zuge der Verpflichtung des Torhüters.

Adli fractures collarbone – Lunev also injured
Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to manage without forward Amine Adli and goalkeeper Andrey Lunev over the medium term. 22-year-old Adli suffered a fracture to his left collarbone in the Bundesliga clash with FC Augsburg on Saturday. It was the first appearance for the France U21 international after five months out injured. 30-year-old Lunev, who replaced suspended number one keeper Lukas Hradecky against Augsburg, suffered a tendon injury in his right thigh when kicking the ball upfield. That was the diagnosis for the two Werkself players today (Sunday).
