A training course for external coaches covering age groups U8 to U13 on 'Effective coaching in junior football' was held at the BayArena this week. The course, with this initial event ahead of a series of training units, was aimed at coaches and sporting management of clubs in the area of Leverkusen. It was very well received.

Still unbeaten and now with seven points to their name: In the third match of the 2024/25 UEFA Youth League, Bayer 04 U19s earned a point at Stade Brest. In front of 3,000 spectators at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, Kerim Alajbegovic put Leverkusen ahead (24'), but the French side equalised shortly before the break. After the break, Artem Stepanov had the best chance for the Werkself but his shot hit the post and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Gold Fritz Walter medals for Onyeka and Bender

A great honour: Werkself homegrown players Francis Onyeka (U17 category) and Loreen Bender from the Bayer 04 Women's team (U19 category) have been awarded the gold Fritz Walter medal by the German Football Association (DFB). That was announced by the DFB on Friday. The Fritz Walter medal is the most prestigious individual award in German youth football.

Bayer 04 kicked off their UEFA Youth League campaign with a 2-1 win away at Feyenoord. A crowd of 1,050 at Varkenoord saw Ben Hawighorst and Francis Onyeka put the Werkself youngsters 2-0 up before Ayoub Ouarghi got one back for the hosts late on.
