Coaching academy
The Coaching Academy is responsible for the continual development of style of play and the training methods of the club combined with the club philosophy, the development of the game and best practice.
Bayer 04 coaches have the opportunity to use the ideas from the Bayer 04 Coaching Academy for themselves and their development. Under the leadership of Keld Bordinggaard their knowledge and strengths can and should be continually developed.
The Goal
One of the most important targets of the coaching academy is the continual development in the above-mentioned subjects and thereby the securing of a continually high level of knowledge in the sporting organisation.
Moreover: The creation of a well-founded education system of our clubs coaches with constant development of expertise in the sense of the Bayer 04 approach to the game and thereby a continual improvement of the individual development of our coaches and by extension of our players.
Training system
The training of coaches at Bayer 04 does not end with the DFB coaching licence. Based on professional and specific workshops in modules, which are determined according to the individual competence and abilities of the coaches, can be optimally trained.
The coaches of all youth teams have the opportunity to use the inspiration from the Bayer 04 coaching Academy for themselves and their development. Under the leadership of Keld bordinggaard their knowledge and their strengths can and should be continually developed.
The target is to set new incentives every day and let ideas come forward. The coaches will not remain on their current level but they see the bigger picture. They will not miss trends but instead set them. This will happen both through external as well as internal influences.
Our Bayer 04 coaches are taught to teach the required content and ideas of the club according to age in their teams.

Responsibility
Head of the Coaching Academy: Keld Bordinggaard
The Dane Keld Bordinggaard as a former football player, Denmark international and coach who has been advising Bayer 04 since the summer of 2019. He has a UEFA Pro Licence as a coach and has completed the UEFA Masters Programme (MIP).
Since February 2021 he has been responsible as Head of Coaching for the club's coaching academy linked to the BayArena. Here, together with sporting managing director Simon Rolfes, he casts a strategic look at the development of Bayer 04 and further develops the sporting work material over the long term in cooperation with the head of the Performance Centre.
Sport scientific expertise: Ismael Camenforte Lopez
Ismael Camenforte Lopez Moved under the Bayer Cross in the summer of 2021. After studying at the University of Barcelona, the Spaniard worked as a fitness coach at FC Barcelona for seven years as well as 18 months at the MLS club New York City FC.
The Catalan returned from the USA to Europe in August 2020 and he was appointed to the coaching staff of the Denmark team. In his first season at Bayer 04, Camenforte Lopez is responsible for the training methods at the club. The Spaniard moved to the first team coaching staff at the beginning of the 2022/23 season where he is as a fitness coach.
