David Thiel – goalkeeping coach

David Thiel joined Bayer 04 at the age of ten and he went on to play in goal for the youth teams at the Werkself and finally was between the sticks for the second team. At the same time, the Leverkusen-born keeper trained the youth goalkeepers at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre ably supported by the Bayer 04 legend Rüdiger Vollborn.

In 2012, Thiel finally took over as first-team goalkeeping coach and since then has trained the Werkself shot-stoppers. His work, that included helping Bernd Leno play for Germany, clearly speaks for itself.
