Bayer 04 wants to optimally prepare young players for a possible career in sport and at the same time develop their academic, social and character skills. To this end, the club is breaking new ground. Together with TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH is planning the ‘Haus der Talente’ on a site in the centre of Leverkusen.
In the sustainable timber building with plenty of greenery in the outdoor areas, 36 top young athletes, including prospective footballers, but also young people from other team sports, athletics and para-sports, will live together in residential groups and be supervised by teachers. The Talent House is to be built on a site in Leverkusen between the Löwenburg daycare centre and Elisabeth-Langgässer-Straße. It is located in a green area and at the same time close to the city centre and therefore close to partner schools and various sports facilities. This is because the young athletes should be able to get to school and training by bike and bus wherever possible.

Concept
Family. Community. Structure.
Instead of living exclusively with host families and in their own flats, as was previously the case, the teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 18 will live together in the Talent House. Each residential group will have an assigned counsellor who will be their point of contact for all matters outside of sport and who will liaise closely with coaches and parents.
Within the residential groups, contact between athletes and para-athletes from different disciplines is expressly encouraged. It is important for the teenagers and young adults to live away from their families in a group that has family-like structures.
The neighbourhood
Exchange. Openness. Clarity.
Bayer 04 has been in close contact with the neighbours of the Talent House for two years. The club presented its ideas and plans to them at an early stage because those in charge want to incorporate their suggestions into the planning. Constructive, open and detailed dialogue took place at four community meetings. It was and is important to Bayer 04 that the neighbours know what is happening in their area and who their points of contact are.
Issues include the distances to residential buildings, traffic, pedestrian paths and trees. So far, good solutions have been found for many of these detailed issues. Some things can be clarified quickly with an e-mail or a phone call. Bayer 04 will continue to do the same in the further process. The residents know that we are there for them. Working together is the quickest and best way forward.
