Dr Dittmar has worked for Bayer 04 since 2002 and has been in charge of the medical department for many years. That includes orthopaedics, sports and internal medicine, sports science, athletics, rehabilitation/Bayer 04 Werkstatt, sports psychology and physiotherapy.
During the redevelopment of the BayArena in 2009, Dr Dittmar played a significant role in the planning and equipping of the medical area. The Werkstatt, integrated in the stadium, with its high-tech equipment, hypoxic and cryotherapy chambers, and anti-gravity treadmill have set standards in the sports medical care of top athletes. He is a long-standing member of the Anti-Doping Committee of the German Football Association (DFB) and part of the UEFA Elite Club Injury Study.
