Vilhjálmsdóttir made her mark with Iceland on the penultimate matchday in Group 4 in League A. Against a Germany team with a perfect record, the side around the Leverkusen striker, who was on the pitch for 85 minutes, secured a 3-0 win. That meant the hosts also secured their place in the tournament from 2 to 27 July 2025. Iceland beat Poland, with no points to date, 1-0 and Vilhjálmsdóttir played for 73 minutes in that game. Iceland have 13 points and qualify in second place behind Germany (15).
There are still some hurdles facing Turányi on the way to the Euro finals. Hungary first beat Azerbaijan 5-0 away but then lost 4-1 at home to Turkey with the central defender playing the full 90 minutes in both games. Third place in Group 1 of League B puts the team in the play-offs. 28 teams will be battling for the last seven places in the Euro finals. Round one of the play-offs will be staged between 23 and 29 October, and round two between 27 November and 3 December.
