Wendell is one of the candidates for the position of left back. The Brazilian has made 24 Bundesliga appearances this season with two goals and one assist to his credit. The 24-year-old recently suffered a ligament injury but returned to full training at the start of this week.
His team-mate Benny Henrichs is one of the nominees for right back. The Germany international has played 22 games in the current campaign and provided one assist.
Our Jamaican Leon Bailey is up for selection in the category of left midfield. The 20-year-old has had a very impressive season scoring nine goals and laying on six in his 28 league appearances to date.

The next home fixture is here: Following the winning start to the UEFA Europa League against NK Celje, the Werkself host RB Leipzig at the BayArena on matchday 4 of the 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign. The match on Sunday, 20 September, kicks off at 15:30 CEST. A special visit to the BayArena: 222 members from volunteer fire brigades in Leverkusen, the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and the Oberbergisch district watched the Werkself’s 2–0 home win over Slovenian champions NK Celje live in the stadium. Bayer 04 had invited them to the 2026/27 Europa League opener as a thank-you for their tremendous dedication. They watched the match together in Block F4.
