The video games manufacture Electronic Arts (EA) in association with the German Football League (DFL) recently announced the six nominees in the vote for Bundesliga Player of the Month of October. Florian Wirtz came out on top against notable opposition with Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong plus Harry Kane, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané (all Bayern Munich) and Lois Openda (RB Leipzig) also nominated.
40% of votes came from fans, with 30% each from the 18 team captains plus a panel of pundits.
This award has been presented since the 2018/19 season. The trophy picked up by Wirtz is already the eighth to come to Leverkusen.

The Colombian midfielder Gustavo Puerta is set to join Hull City on permanent terms from 1 July. Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the Championship club originally agreed a season-long loan in the summer with an option to buy included in the contract. A permanent move to Hull City has been triggered by the number of league appearances Puerta has made this term.

The Easter holidays enticed a large number of Bayer 04 fans to come to the training ground at the BayArena, today Wednesday 16 April, to watch the Werkself at an open training session in the afternoon. Afterwards, the players and head coach Xabi Alonso took time out to sign autographs and pose for photographs.
