Bayer 04 agree new deal with goalkeeping coach David Thiel
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have extended the contract with goalkeeping coach David Thiel by two years. The 35-year-old has signed a contract extension to 30 June 2022.
"We are very happy with David's work. He is an important part of our coaching staff and he's been with the first team squad for nearly ten years," said Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes.
David Thiel, at the club since 1994: "I'm very happy I can continue to provide my skills for the Werkself and I will do everything possible for us to achieve our ambitious targets with Bayer 04."

Bayer 04 will have to manage without Florian Wirtz. The Germany international suffered a ligament injury in his right ankle in the home game against Werder Bremen (0-2) on Saturday. Thanks to an impressive second-half performance and two set-piece goals, the team led by coach Roberto Pätzold sealed a 2-0 win away to newcomers FC Carl Zeiss Jena. With goals from Cornelia Kramer (54') and Lilla Turanyi (73') the Werkself have equalled their previous points record from the 2020/21 season with 33 points after 16 games this term.
