“I experienced great things at this club and made lots of friends – Bayer 04 was like a family for me,” said Wendell. “But after such a long time it is important for me as a person and as a player to take on a new challenge. Leverkusen will always be very important to me and I wish the club all the best from the bottom of my heart.”
Sporting director Simon Rolfes played alongside the South American for Bayer 04. “Wendell developed from a reserved young lad onto an established professional player with us and he always passionately identified with Bayer 04,” according to Rolfes. “He made his mark here and he will always be welcome to come back in the future.”
Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the Hamburg tech start-up GIPEDO are revolutionising communication between clubs and their partners: Via a new partner portal, the GIPEDO workspace, animation advertising can in future be independently administrated by partners.
