Playing against the team from Rotterdam currently lying sixth in the Vrouwen Eridivisie, the Bayer 04 Women, including a number of youth players, made the better start to the game played in on the Netherlands side of the border near Goch. The Black and Reds were awarded for their commitment in the opening stages of the game with the opening goal scored on 22 minutes: Julie Jorde hit a free kick into the penalty area and it was headed home by Caroline Kehrer. There was a setback shortly after that: Sofia Cava Marin had to be substituted due to an injury.
The Leverkusen women continued to press forward. And a second goal appeared to have been scored a few minutes later. Selina Ostermeier put the ball in the net with a header but the goal was ruled out. Crosses were the order of the day. And that brought the next clear-cut chance for the Black and Reds: Caroline Kehrer centred the ball and fellow striker Vanessa Haim headed towards goal but her effort did not cross the line. Three minutes later, Kehrer had a great chance from a Jorde cross but she headed wide of the target. Moments before the end of the first half, came the next goal celebration: Ida Daedelow picked out teammate Haim with a through ball. The striker made no mistake as she slotted the ball away to make it 2-0 (45+2').

It was a different game after the restart. The Leverkusen women were not as attacking as in the first half and they allowed space for the Dutch side to go on the front foot. And Feyenoord exploited that with two goals in the middle of the second half: The Bayer 04 Women were unable to clear a cross with the ball landing at the feet of Sanne Koopmann and she converted to make it 2-1 (68'). Then Jada Conijnenberg hit a low cross from the left into the back of the net (70'). The Dutch side levelled the scoreline within two minutes. And that is how the match ended.
