The VBL organisers said safe travel to their clubs could not be guaranteed for players because of the current weather situation. The double matches for the #B04eSports players against the Hamburg teams will be played on 16 February.
That meant the full focus of the Leverkusen players was on the singles matches on the night. Youngster Marc ‘Marc_LDW23’ Landwehr kicked off against FCSP on PlayStation 4 – and he immediately picked up the first three points for his club. In the clash with St. Pauli’s Tom ‘FCSP TOM’ Köst, the Leverkusen player gained the upper hand with goals from the virtual Yannick Schlößer (44’) and Lucas Alario (70’). Köst had levelled through Daniel Kofi-Kyereh (54’).
In the second match of the night, Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae played Mustafa ‘XMUSTI19’ Cankal on XBOX. The experienced #B04eSports player was on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline. De Cae was only able to score a consolation goal through Schlößer in the closing stages.
In his second match of the night, Landwehr took on Hamburg's Cina ‘LOSTINTHEWAVESZ’ Hosseindjani. The Leverkusen player lead 2-0 and 3-1 in the first half. He took the latter advantage into the break. But, in spite of a continuing good performance, Landwehr conceded two goals late on; Hosseindjani picked up a point. The previous displays from the 18-year-old newcomer 'MARC _LDW23' have been impressive: He remains unbeaten after five singles matches for Bayer 04 in the VBL (three wins, two draws).
To round off the double matchday, De Cae secured another three points for the Black and Reds on Xbox: The 90 virtual minutes ended with a convincing 2-0 win against Hamburg's Leon ‘HSV LEON’ Krasniqi. That means the Werkself are still in sixth place in the VBL table.
In addition to the previously mentioned doubles matches against St. Pauli and HSV, there are other clashes in store for the #B04eSports players on 16 February: The first opponents are VfL Bochum (18.00 CET) and that is followed by the virtual meeting with Schalke 04.

Job done: the Bayer 04 eSports team defeated SV Darmstadt 98 in the play-offs to secure their consecutive participation in the VBL Club Championship final. The journey continues now for Leverkusen on Saturday 7 March (from 17:00 CET) with a last-16 encounter at Hamburger SV.

A disciplined defensive performance in the second leg saw Bayer 04 prevail against Olympiacos in the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League 2025/26. Thanks to the 2-0 away win in the first leg, the goalless draw at home at the BayArena was enough to ensure progress to the next round. Bayer 04 can go through to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League for the ninth time tonight, 24 February (kick-off: 21:00 CET) and be in the top 16 clubs in Europe. A good omen: Leverkusen have progressed to the next round after winning the first leg in 20 of their 22 knockout rounds in European competitions to date. For their part, Greek record champions Olympiacos rested several players for last weekend’s league fixture ahead of the play-off second leg at the BayArena and will now do everything in their power to turn the tide with their usual aggressive and high pressing. The discussions on Werkself radio are likely to be just as intense as the battle on the pitch, with commentator Florian Bechholz welcoming honorary captain Stefan Kießling and goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
